the wine routes and grape varieties of four Greek regions –Macedonia, Peloponnese, Cyclades and Crete – were introduced by the Michelin-starred Chef Ollie Dabous to overseas journalists at a foodie event held recently at London’s upmarket ‘Hide’ restaurant.
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) service in the UK and Ireland participated in the event titled “Undiscovered European Wines in collaboration with Ollie Dabbous”, which aimed to introduce and promote Greek wines to abroad as well as linking wine to gastronomic tourism.
The event was attended by 20 media representatives from Times, Daily Mail, BBC London Inside Out, National Geographic Traveler Food, S Magazine (Sunday Express) and The World of Fine Wine and Decanter. Also present were influencers specializing in gastronomy.
“All guests embraced this effort while the deals reached at the event include two press trips and extensive media coverage for Greece,” the GNTO said in a statement.
During the event, the GNTO UK and Ireland Director Eleni Skarveli informed participants of the organization’s special label for wineries open to visitors and distributed special cards promoting the four wine and wine routes of Greece.
Additionally, Chef Ollie Dabbous referenced his experiences from his travels in Greece and the specially curated menu for the event inspired by the country and its different wine varieties.
